"A photograph is just shadows, but when it's

done really well, it will evoke emotion or reveal

some element of time.  Sometimes it'll do both,

and that's what we're shooting for. "

...Brian B.

A bit about me?

Well,  my real name is Brian Balsaitis but I am more often known as "Brian B". The name

Balsaitis is what immigration officers re-named my paternal grandfather when he came over

from Lithuania.  Balsaitis is a Greek sounding version of "Balsat", Grandpa's real name.

Anyways, I  first discovered photography in 1977 when at age 12 I got involved with pinhole

cameras. Since then, I've accumulated decades of experience photographing all kinds of things,

moving on of course to "real" SLR and Medium format cameras.  Today, as a professional

photographer, I spend the majority of my time working in the snowmobile industry. My client

list includes everyone from Snowmobile manufacturers and factory race teams, to clothing

distributors and international magazines. This work is done both on location and in studio

settings and appears in print and on web sites, both commercially and photojournalistically.

I spent thre years as the staff photographer and designer for SNO-X MAGAZINE, a publication

dedicated to competitive and high performance snowmobiling. When I'm not out shooting

sleds, I find myself drawn towards photo opportunities that contain dramatic lighting, including

live theatre and unique black and white portraiture.

A bit of a Renaissance man, I like being well rounded by learning and doing many different

things. Aside from professional photography, some of my life experiences (so far) include 7

years of post secondary education, racing mountain bikes and motocross, owning and operating

a Porsche/VW restoration shop, playing guitar in some very loud bands, building houses,

and home schooling my 4 children.

Always looking for a different angle, I pursue the craft of photography in hopes of seeing life

from a fresh perspective.

Thanks for checking out my stuff.
